As we all know, physical therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation process for patients who have suffered an injury or undergone surgery. However, what some may not realize is that the late stage of physical therapy rehabilitation is just as important, if not more important, than the early stages.  The bigger issue is that physical therapists often don't have the knowledge or experience working with folks during this late stage or advanced physical therapy rehabilitation period.  

Late stage physical therapy rehabilitation refers to the period of time when a patient has regained a significant amount of strength and mobility, but still requires additional therapy to get all of the way back to their sport or other goals. This stage is critical because it's when the patient starts to perform more functional movements and activities, which ultimately bridges them from rehab to performance.
