Master Course

The FPF MASTER Shoulder Course is a Comprehensive Online Resource for Clinical Examination and Treatment of Shoulder Injuries.

Are You a Strength and Fitness Forward Clinician Who Wants to be an Expert Working with Shoulder Injuries?

This course is awesome!!

Dan is one of the only physical therapists I've found that applies the current research straight over to a strength and fitness population.   He makes the rehab seem just like a normal workout so patients don't feel like they're just doing the copy and paste physical therapy stuff.  More specifically, I loved the PDF protocols.  They've been great resources to use as a guideline with new patients.  I also love the modifications which are great to keep patients training when injured and also nice to progressively bridge patients back to higher level work over time.

Nancy Kuhn  //  Physical Therapist

Hi, I'm Dan,

My goal is to make you an incredible clinician who loves their work.

My journey started as a personal trainer with an enormous passion for strength and fitness.  I would routinely be working with clients that had common orthopedic injuries.  Like any concerned trainer should, I'd send them to the physical therapist to get some answers.

Unfortunately this often ended up backfiring for me.  My client would come back (and sometimes not) and tell me, "The physical therapist said of course you got hurt, you shouldn't be performing deadlifts"  Ok, maybe we overdid it with deadlifts.  So I'd cut back and we'd keep on training.  Over time other injuries would pop up and I'd again send to physical therapists.

Over time I started to see a trend:

  • "Of course you hurt your back, you shouldn't be performing kettlebell swings"
  • "You're over 40 years old, you shouldn't be pressing anything overhead anymore"
  • "If you keep up running you'll need double knee replacements in a few years"

This made absolutely no sense to me.  Exercise has an absolute boatload of benefits and is damn near the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth.  This led me into physical therapy school to get some answers...

Physical therapy school was amazing and I learned an incredible amount.  It truly was positive and incredible experience.  Trouble is, I didn't really learn how to use strengthening and conditioning principles to help my patients OR how to keep patients exercising throughout the rehabilitation process, which is one of the main goals of physical therapy school in the first place for me. Most schools don't have the time to teach the principles I wanted to master, they're trying to get you to pass the board exam and not kill any patients out of school...

So basically what it comes down to is that University education simply wasn't enough...

  • No Advice on Proper Exercise Execution
The very thought that an exercise like a bench press could be valuable for a shoulder patient wasn't even discussed, let alone how to perform movements appropriately...
  • No Information on Exercise Modification
What the heck do I tell my patients to do in the gym while they recover, just stop everything?!?
  • No Help Creating Rehabilitation Programs to Return to Training
Alright, so side-lying external rotation and scaption are good exercises for my shoulder pain patients, but how do we get them back in the gym once they master the basics?  More importantly, how do we do this after surgery when the stakes are higher?!?
  • Minimal Help with Exercise Prescription, Programming and Periodization
Exercise prescription is just too large a topic to cover well in PT school and I don't even think the words programming or periodization were even mentioned in the 3 years I was there...

This led me an enormous journey to figure out how to serve my patients using strength and fitness focused interventions.  I knew physical therapists could be much more powerful then just helping patients in pain.  We could also transform lives focusing on improving patient health and wellbeing as well.

This course will teach you exactly how to help patients with shoulder pain while helping transform their health and wellbeing through strength and fitness.

WhO IT'S FOR?

Attention physical therapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors and athletic trainers.  The goal of this course is the MASTER shoulder injury clinical examination and treatment.  I'll show you how to be the trusted resource in your community to help get your patients out of pain and back to the training they love.

"Done with you" community

One big issue with standard education is that you learn the concepts and principles but you may not be sure of the right decision when it comes to practical application with patients.  The FPF MASTER Shoulder Course comes with a community access where I help to guide students through the content.  I ask relevant questions to help solidy the concepts learned in the lessons.  This way when you have specific questions related to your own practice I can help you iron out those details and make it relevant to you.

Your guidance doesn't end right after purchase...

Every week I'll email out the next set of lessons to I recommend going through.  Along with the lessons I'll send over some relevant questions to have you answer that should help to reinforce your learning.  I'll read over your responses and add my feedback to further help guide you.  On top of this you're free to ask as many relevant questions as you like as you go through.

I'll guide you through the content with our exclusive online community

time commitment?

Does the FPF MASTER Shoulder Course Take Too Much Time to Complete?

Let's face it, mastering the concepts in this course is going to take some time.  There is no way around it.  All things in life worth pursuing are going to take time and effort.  This course is no different.  It's also a fairly large course, coming in at 30.5 total contact hours.

However, I've gone out of my way to create a "FAST TRACK" for the course.  Essentially I've created infographics, key notes and cheat sheets to go along with every lesson and module in the course when it's relevant.  This way you can consume the large majority of the content in the form of "Cheat Sheets" and "Infographics".
