FPF Episode 10 – Screening and Assessing the Fitness Population

FMS FPF Episode 10 Screening and Assessing the Fitness Population

With the popularity of Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen (FMS), the topic of screening and assessing personal training clients has become hot.  Dan And Rob Rowland take a wack at it:

  • Why Assessment is important
  • Assessing or Guessing?
  • Is assessment a waste of time?
  • How to assess and screen the crossfit population
  • Screens for group fitness vs. 1 on 1 personal training
  • Screening Rob Rowland, the next Crossfit Games 2013 winner
  • The Functional Movement Screen – A possible solution?

Here’s a link to the Fitcast’s FMS debate.  Very informative.

  1. Thanks Dan! Because of you and Rob my workout time have been cut down to 5-10 mins a day! BUT… My prehab/rehab workout times have increased to 5 hours a day. LOL. I’ve stopped saying I workout 4 x’s a week. Now I say I pre/rehab 7 x a week!
Seriously, thanks for the good info. Getting old is not for sissiess.

    • Nice! What’s injured right now? Might help to see a PT or chiro to get started with the rehab.

      • Dan I’m still dealing with the Shoulder. My Dr. wantend me to take 1 to 2 weeks off after the Triathlon sprint I did on the 1st of Sept. He laid out a time line for me, but especially after listening to this pod cast I decided to book a PT appointment. I need a specialist to guide me through this stuff because it is obvious I don’t know how to do anything but keep this shoulder injured. I have not done anykind of lifting with my right arm in about 6 weeks now. The swimming I was doing was enough to keep it hurting. ( I was only using a side stroke. The injured side was the trail arm.) Thank goodness that race is off my bucket list! Back to the power sports once I get healed up.
